كيف يساعد هذا البرنامج الأشخاص

توفر المنحة الإضافية (AG) دخلاً إضافيًا للمستفيدين من دخل الضمان التكميلي (SSI) وبعض الأفراد الآخرين من كبار السن أو المكفوفين أو المعوقين المقيمين في مرفق معيشة بمساعدة (ALF) مرخص له من قبل شعبة برامج الترخيص أو في دار رعاية للبالغين معتمدة من قبل DSS المحلي للفرد.

تهدف المساعدة المالية إلى ضمان قدرة البالغين على الحفاظ على مستوى معيشي يلبي مستوى أساسي من الاحتياجات (أي السكن والمأكل والإعالة والرعاية).

Before being admitted, adults are assessed by the local DSS or other public human services agency to determine their eligibility and the appropriate level of care. Not all ALFs accept AG recipients.

The VDSS-administered program is 80% state- and 20% locally-funded. Non-reimbursable expenses are funds provided by the locality and not reimbursable by VDSS.

This program is now managed by DARS. Beginning with SFY 2022, VDSS will no longer report new statistics on this program. DARS activity reports can be found via the following link.

Data Notes

  • The local fiscal year runs from June 1 through May 31.
  • In 2009, three-quarters of the 78 local departments with declines in their caseloads in FYs 2007 and 2008 responded to a survey and identified the top 3 reasons for caseload decline:
    • AG grant rate is insufficient for ALF providers to cover required services, therefore providers are unable to accept AG recipients;
    • individuals' care needs exceed Assisted Living level of care; and
    • clients' desire to remain at home and, instead, use home-based services, Medicaid waivers, or CSB case management.
